75-Year-Old Port of Los Angeles (POLA) trucking company, Duncan and Son Lines, was honored with a SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency in Oct 2017. The company operates 250 trucks and has one of the youngest fleets (2015 and newer) delivering containers in the SP Port Complex. Equipment such as low roll resistance tires, automatic transmissions, full fairing “eco” cabs, front end collision avoidance system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot warning detection system, and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) make up some of the equipment Duncan and Son employs to receive EPA’s SmartWay Excellence Award. David Duncan, the company’s Vice President of Operations states, “We are proud of our accomplishments to be the best we can be. Our greatness comes from within, from our dedicated associates, many of whom have been with us for decades. This award is evidence of our resolve to do the right thing for the environment, keeping it preserved for generations to come. We salute the EPA for their leadership in this endeavor.
